High Borrans
High Borrans Lodges are located on a 1000 acre working Lakeland Farm in the fells between the Troutbeck and Kentmere Valleys. The popular Central Lakes villages of Windermere, Bowness & Ambleside and the main local attractions are within easy reach.
The land, which rises to 1300 feet in parts, is farmed by the Hodgson family who tend to a herd of around 1200 Swaledale Ewes and a small group of Beef Suckler Cows.
The small development of just 7, well positioned and spaced apart lodges and Shepherd’s Hut take advantage of the peace, tranquillity and lovely views which surround the area. The accommodations are adjacent to a bridle path from where guests can set off on foot or bike to explore the surrounding scenery.
The area is a nature lover’s paradise and an Environmental Sensitive Area with parts designated as Sites of Special Scientific Interest. There are regular sightings of Red and Roe Deer on the surrounding fells whilst around the farm and farm buildings Tawny and Barn Owls will be seen. Many native UK Bat Species will be spotted at dawn and dusk between April and October.
Nearby Dubbs Reservoir, Dubbs Beck, Borrans Reservoir and the River Gowan are one of the last few places in the UK where the native British white-clawed crayfish still thrive.
The nearest shops and supermarket are a short drive away in Windermere (3 miles). The nearest pubs are in the nearby villages of Ings or Troutbeck.
